I am a Research Author at the Department of Economics at Monk Prayogshala, a not-for-profit academic research organization based in Mumbai. My work at Prayogshala focuses on using experimental methods to understand economic decision-making in the Indian context. Areas of interest include charitable giving, intra-household bargaining, and social norms. I also teach economics as Visiting Faculty at NMIMS's Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts (JDSoLA), Sarla and Anil Modi School of Economics (SAMSoE), the School of Business Management (SBM), and the Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics (MDAE), both in Mumbai. I have previously served as In-Resident Economist at the Internet Society (working on measuring the economic impacts of internet shutdowns, the economics of peering, and the value of encryption) and Deputy Director of Behavioural Science at BIAS Inc, a New Delhi-based behavioural science think tank

I received a joint PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) and Monash University Research Academy (IITB-Monash) in Mumbai, India and Melbourne, Australia. Previously, I completed an MSc in Economics at the University of Warwick, UK. My PhD research focused on understanding the determinants of currency usage in India as well as assessing various currency management and supply policies. My advisors were Pushpa Trivedi (IIT-B), Greg Markowsky (Monash), and Mehmet Ozmen (Uni Melbourne).

My past research work has been with the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), and the World Resources Institute (WRI) India. I have taught as visiting faculty at Ramnarain Ruia College (Mumbai), Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts (SSLA, Pune), Whistling Woods Academy (Mumbai), and others.

My mentors in research have been a constant support in times of distress (and otherwise). These include Hari K. Nagarajan (IIM-A), Vani K. Borooah (Ulster), the late Hans P. Binswanger-Mkhize, Raghbendra Jha (ANU), G. Palanithurai (formerly at Gandhigram Rural University), Klaus Deininger (World Bank), Maria Laura Alzua (CEDLAS), Savita Kulkarni (Gokhale), Pushkar Maitra (Monash), Lata Gangadharan (Monash), Vivek Pandey (IRMA), and Hansika Kapoor (Monk Prayogshala) to name a few.

I have raised grants in collaboration with my mentors from the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), the Indian Council for Social Sciences Research (ICSSR), the National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER), and others. I currently serve as Deputy Editor (Economics) on the editorial board of South Asia Research, an interdisciplinary journal that publishes work on south Asia.

Other interests include modern popular culture, various genres of music, and Pokemon GO. I also (used to) play the bass guitar, and read graphic novels.
